The clocks go back at the end of October, which makes mornings even darker. For those of us who find getting out of a bed a challenge at the best of times, these tiny rituals can lend a helping hand.

Before you even open your eyes, say thank you for 10 things you're thankful for Like: 'Thank you for a great sleep, my cosy bed, coffee with Sue this afternoon, the new series of xxx dropping tonight on Netflix' etc Doing this kicks your brain into looking for positives right from the get go, and sets the tone for your day. If 10 feels like a stretch, start with three and build from there.
As soon as you swing your legs out of bed, put your feet straight into slippers Keeping your feet warm supports your ability to manage stress and helps keep your hormones balanced.
Try warm water with lemon for your first hot drink of the day Its hydrating, supports digestion and doesn't overload your body during its natural morning cortisol surge (because its caffeine-free). But be careful if you have damaged tooth enamel or sensitive teeth because of the citric acid.
Use the power of essential oils and scent to boost your mood in the shower And avoid cold water if you're female and already stressed as the latest research shows cold water exposure below 16 degrees doesn't have positive health benefits for you.
Even just one minute of gua sha will lift your face and spirit It reduces puffiness and increases circulation to help you look and feel more awake. Plus it increases the absorption and effectiveness of any active skincare you use.
Pull an oracle card or two for guidance and good vibes
Get outside to help regulate your body clock Even standing or sitting by a window to increase your exposure to daylight helps with this.
A quick spritz of vitamin D spray Less sunshine during the autumn and winter months means many of us can do with supplementing vitamin D. Leaving a spray by the kettle means you're more likely to remember to take it.
Enjoy a warm breakfast Avoiding cold foods when its dark and cold helps support vital energy. Even adding a warm element (like berry compote to Greek yoghurt) is beneficial.
If in doubt, slap on some bright lipstick Colour boosts mood and will help you feel pulled together and awake (even if you still feel half asleep!)
